Vanderbilt Health - Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Senior Director, Nursing Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute in our VUH Hospital.The Senior Director, Nursing provides administrative oversight and leadership throughout VHVI to assigned operational departments or executive nursing system-wide programs. This role will provide leadership and nursing oversight to assigned operational departments or executive nursing system-wide programs. Participates in the development of operational and strategic functions and processes to achieve clinical and administrative goals. The individual should exhibit strong communication and relationship building, knowledge of the healthcare environment, leadership, professionalism, and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure clinical service growth plans and strategies align with enterprise goals.
- Develop goals and objectives for the PHI triad based on interpretation of institutional policy and goals.
- Establish and articulate a philosophy of nursing consistent with the educational, research, and patient care missions of PHI institute.
- Review, establish, and revise policies, procedures, and standards related to all aspects of nursing practice. Interpret policies and objectives to nursing staff, patient, and community groups.
- Develop budget, policies, and strategies that optimize the outcomes of clinical programs by improving efficiency, diversity, and effectiveness in care delivery process.
- Ensure the most effective operations of the department through program development, process improvement and coordination/integration of processes with other departments.
- Assure successful implementation of clinical programs through systems and process design by integrating the design of the clinical programs with the needs of the community and other target populations.
- Analyze and monitor work processes to optimize productivity and meet targets.
- Standardize services, processes, resources, and practices where appropriate to improve efficiency maximizing continuity of patient care while maintaining professional standards within disciplines and across Patient Care Centers.
- Ensures all Human Resource and VUMC policies and procedures are followed according to standards.
- Create a culture to enhance leadership development, and collaboration among departments and physicians to enhance the growth and communication for the PHI.
- Works within a Shared Governance framework to identify and address issues, solve problems, and evaluate outcomes. Participate on committees to address system problems/issues and facilitate information exchange.
- Create an organizational culture (both within and across departments) that provides a safe, satisfying, and enriching environment for employees and provides a qualified, competent staff to meet patient needs.
- Participate in establishing service standards for the department.
- Utilize customer satisfaction, best practices, and market information to improve customer service and satisfaction.
- Create and exceed service standards utilizing key service dimension and from knowledge of patient/customer expectations and best practice.
- Identify, establish, and evaluate quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within department.
Qualifications:
1. Nursing degree required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Doctorate in Nursing.
2. Master's degree or higher education required.
3. If nursing degree at Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) level, then Master’s can be non-nursing degree. (Required)
4. 10+ years experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic Health Center experience
- Heart & Lung Transplant, ECMO, VAD
