Job Description:
Penn Mutual is seeking a Risk-Based Quality Senior Specialist to join our team!
In this role, you’ll conduct in-depth reviews of operational transactions, processes, and documentation to ensure alignment with quality standards. You’ll also lead and coordinate complex risk-based quality reviews, partnering closely with operational leaders to identify opportunities for improvement and drive meaningful change.
As a subject matter expert in risk-based quality practices, life and annuity insurance, and data analytics, you’ll play a key role in shaping our quality strategy. Your ability to collaborate across functions and work independently will help foster a strong culture of quality throughout the organization.
Essential Functions
- Execute risk-based quality reviews in accordance with established methodologies and sampling strategies.
- Document quality review results, identify errors, and assess potential risk impacts with the ability to research, analyze and interpret areas of concern/risk from an end-to-end operational perspective.
- Analyze root causes of errors and trends to provide and document actionable insights and partner with organizational teams to influence quality improvement.
- Prepare and present review results to leadership, highlighting risks, recommending improvements and participating in quality results dialogue with leaders.
- Recommend and participate in reporting enhancements demonstrating the ability to think through outcomes and implementation.
- Provide support during the risk assessment process to identify potential quality risks throughout the product lifecycle.
- Contribute to and lead initiatives to the evolution of Risk-Based Quality methodology, tools, and best practices.
- Actively participate in training sessions, quality program initiatives, process improvements, cross-departmental projects, and stay informed on Company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development of quality review and monitoring forms, standards, and measures for existing and future business needs.
- Collaborate with the business/functional units to ensure understanding of quality standards and risk mitigation practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expertise and resource for less experienced team members and provide informal mentoring.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex data to organize, document and communicate information effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and reporting tools) and adaptable to learning and leveraging new tools.
- Strong work-ethic and high degree of initiative with the ability to self-direct and prioritize work effectively.
- In-depth understanding of quality assurance/control principles.
- In-depth understanding of operational processes related to financial services industry and knowledge of Penn Mutual products, processes, and systems a plus.
- Highly motivated team player with the ability to work with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Proven ability to consistently manage multiple projects with the ability to set and meet timeframes.
Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5–7 Years related work experience in risk-based quality and/or risk roles
- Related work experience in the financial services industry
- Experience leading cross-functional projects, process improvements, or training/mentoring initiatives
Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000
