In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to develop your corporate design skills and will be responsible for the successful delivery of assigned global projects, including all phases of interior design by leading a team of external consultants and working with internal partners with a client-centric focus that includes strong relationship building and communication skills.
  • As a recognized expert, provide expertise to the organization in space planning and design by leading the design aspect of assigned global real estate projects with internal project teams and service providers.

  • Plans, coordinates, and allocates office space for all assigned projects as well as providing metrics and reporting.

  • Develops and recommends long-range plans to meet future office space needs based on Hybrid work implementation.

  • Formulates, recommends, and ensures compliance with approved standards and policies relating to office space and furnishings.

The Principal Facilities Space Plan Consultant is part of the Medtronic Global Real Estate, Design, Brand and Workplace Strategies Team and is an Interior Design SME participating and contributing to the development and implementation of corporate space policies, procedures, and practices for the space management of Medtronic’s corporate real estate.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in interior design and/or facility project management within a corporate environment OR advanced degree and 8+ years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Specific experience managing high profile. large scale facility type projects of varying degrees of complexity and financial magnitude

  • Experience supervising external resources/vendors

  • Ability to coordinate numerous projects simultaneously and prioritize workload

  • Broad knowledge in project management with proven skills working in a high paced environment with critical ongoing deadlines

  • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management and outside service providers

  • NCIDQ/CID Certification

  • Strong leadership, teambuilding, and influence management skills

  • Knowledge of construction and facility management concepts, techniques, and terminology

  • Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate time zones and travel to diverse work locations

  • Ability to constructively challenge the status quo

  • Strong negotiating and financial analysis skills

  • Interest/membership in peer associations, (i.e. IIDA, ASID, IFMA, AIA)

  • LEED accredited, Fitwel Ambassador

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of time
