THE DEPARTMENT:
Facilities Management Provides maintenance and construction services for Cal Poly Pomona University - Campus South including Custodial Services, Building and Maintenance Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Facilities Project Supervisor is responsible for overseeing various maintenance and construction projects on South Campus (Lanterman).
- The incumbent will work with staff and vendors to ensure maintenance and construction work meet campus, industry, and trade standards.
- The incumbent will also ensure that staff and vendor work is of appropriate quality and accuracy and is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- The incumbent will ensure operational efficiency and excellent customer service by efficiently planning and coordinating the activities of multiple work crews and projects.
- The incumbent will maintain regular communication with staff, departments and vendors on each project, ensuring that required materials and equipment are available at the appropriate time and coordinating and directing work done by outside vendors.
- The incumbent will coordinate work with other supervisors, project managers, and Management staff, as well as communicate campus impacts to management and customer service staff.
- The incumbent will create project schedules and assist management in maintaining a master schedule for construction and maintenance activities.
- Schedules will include contacts, detailed tasks and relevant sub-tasks, task duration, milestones, cost details, and key project conditions.
- Project schedules will be available to share with management, campus planners, estimators, and project managers.
Maintenance and Compliance
- The incumbent will perform hands-on trades work as necessary to maintain regular maintenance of equipment and buildings and to meet project schedules. The incumbent will coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance activities and assist . management with maintaining an efficient and scheduled maintenance program. The incumbent will identify appropriate materials and prepare purchase requests, document changes in project scope and cost, and assist the manager in approving payment applications. The incumbent will be responsible for timely closure of work orders and project files. The incumbent will attend monthly Lanterman meetings and act upon and inform the manager of safety concerns. The incumbent will ensure that all projects/work comply with safety regulations and best practices.
California Conservation Corps
- The incumbent will oversee, schedule, and coordinate landscape maintenance on the property assigned to the CCC interns and occasional corps members.
- Their tasks consist of brush clearing, firebreaks, tree lifts, occasional mowing, trees/tree branch removal, and any landscape work not provided by in-house landscape services.
- The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and necessary repair of the building occupied by the CCC staff, specifically to mitigate safety risks and remain in code compliance.
RSI and Filming Production
- The incumbent will assist RSI and production companies in the use of the Lanterman property, buildings and infrastructure.
- The incumbent will ensure the facilities are safe for use and that all visitors are responsible stewards while using the property.
- The incumbent advises and coordinates with RSI and production on any anticipated modifications to the property, buildings and infrastructure.
- The incumbent will maintain regular communication with RSI and Foundation to support and assist ongoing and upcoming film productions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Driver's license, valid and in state
- These abilities normally would be acquired through two (2) years of experience working as a journey-level crafts worker in one or more building trades
- Including one (1) year in a lead/supervisory capacity.
- Must have demonstrated achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to those acquired through the completion of an applicable apprenticeship program.
