About the role

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County has an opening for a Facilities Coordinator working 37.5 hours per week from the Lockport, NY office.

The Facilities Coordinator will assist with cleaning and maintaining the Association’s grounds and physical facilities to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, participants, and the public. The coordinator will follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules including, but not limited to, the office areas, bathrooms, storage areas and entrances.

The Facilities Coordinator is also responsible for preparation of facilities for meetings, rentals, & events (including the county fair); mowing; snow removal; repairs; minor carpentry and construction projects; maintenance/repair of equipment; storing rental vehicles; set up/breakdown; and assisting with coordinating facility needs with the Facilities Manager, Executive Director and/or designated staff/volunteers. Will assist the Facilities Manager with ensuring OSHA/PESHA safety regulations are followed.

    

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
•    Associate’s degree plus experience relevant to the role of the position. High School diploma/GED plus 1-year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
•    Valid NYS Driver’s License.
•    Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. 
•    Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
•    Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
•    Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
•    Ability to operate a lawn mower, snow blower, and related grounds/maintenance equipment.
•    Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods, materials, and techniques applicable to public buildings. 
•    Demonstrated ability to provide cleaning, maintenance, and repair work. 
•    Ability to identify and address safety concerns in the workplace.
•    Reliability and competence with building mechanicals, plumbing and electrical operations. 
•    Ability to work cooperatively with commercial maintenance and repair services on occasion. 
•    Ability to perform basic carpentry.
•    Ability to operate tractors and/or other large equipment.
•    Ability to climb and perform work from a ladder. 
•    Ability to follow oral and written instructions and assume responsibility with general guidelines and direction.
•    Ability to plan and organize work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor. 
•    Ability to work effectively with the public and co-workers. 
•    Ability to communicate with supervisor and staff as pertains to the duties of the job. 
•    Ability to work independently as assigned and problem-solve as appropriate to the situation.
•    Ability to use windows-based software including use of the internet and e-mail.
•    Physical ability to do heavy lifting (able to lift and carry 50 pounds), shovel snow, and carry/load/unload supplies and equipment. 
•    Ability to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation: frequently work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat, precipitation and cold; frequently lift, move or transport facility materials, office and landscaping waste; and constantly perform cleaning and maintenance tasks by frequently positioning self (for example, pulling, bending, reaching, touching, kneeling, using hands to feel/reach, climbing stairs and ladders). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and/ vibrating mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate and occasionally very loud, especially when using equipment like lawnmowers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Ability to perform basic welding.
•    Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
Administrative Management - 10%
•    Assist with developing and maintaining written plans and records for facility, equipment, and grounds, including but not limited to maintenance records, seasonal work plans, fire extinguisher and heating system annual maintenance, winterization of buildings and equipment. 
•    Assist with developing and managing building and equipment maintenance schedules. 
•    Assist with creation and maintenance of emergency preparedness plans. 
•    Assist with aligning resources to identify contractors and outside vendors for identified needs.
•    Serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Directors’ Property Committee and attend the committee meetings, as necessary.
