Facilities and Business Relations Director

As the Facilities and Business Relations Director for our UK commercial offices, including our new Central London Global HQ, you will ensure the promotion and delivery of the concept of the new HQ as the World’s Healthiest Workplace, developing innovations that support workplace performance, a great employee experience and a positive approach to wellbeing. The role requires establishing close relations with Business Executives, and other key stakeholders, ensuring needs of the workplace are understood and the full range of facility services provided to a high and compliant standard. The role develops, maintains and implements a 5 year Strategic Facility Master Plan for the sites

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage with Business and Global Support Services Leaders and/or their representatives to understand business needs and respond to requests made of the Facilities/Real Estate organisation (occupancy management, services, operations, infrastructure, real estate, capital projects/site minor works), prioritizing execution as appropriate. At all times ensuring meaningful communication and feedback to requesters

  • Ensure all in-scope activities are conducted safely in the context of a culture that prioritises a safe place to work and 'audit ready' at all times. Initiating investigations into incidents and near misses ensuring learnings are applied and shared. Attend and participate in site EHS Committees

  • Act as a key contact with the external community, government, or other agencies at a regional, site or local level

  • Act as Duty Holder for external licenses, statutory requirements and internal engineering and safety policies especially for high hazard activities, ensuring management monitoring processes operate to ensure compliance. To include building life safety systems, pressure systems, HV/LV electrical systems, legionella, waste management and construction activities

  • Plan, manage and execute all capital projects/site minor works safely to budgets and schedules.

  • Lead site-level operations teams to include employees of GSK, Service Providers, stakeholders, and business representatives. Ensure effective local governance of Service Partners monitoring performance metrics. Manage performance to ensure compliance with contract terms and Service Level Agreements.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements and innovations to improve customer service levels and deliver cost savings.

  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders (EHS, HR, Tech, Procurement) to ensure services are integrated to support GSK’s Ahead Together strategy.

  • Ensure the development and delivery of a 5-year Facility Master Plan for the sites through business strategy alignment. Gathering and understanding business occupancy and real estate needs, facilities infrastructure, amenities, and workspace investment taking into account asset life cycle management, city and local transport strategies, accessibility and sustainability programmes.

  • Ensure sites have appropriate security arrangements in place and manned guarding services meet business needs and GSK policies and standards.

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and persuasive skills to successfully interact with managers at all levels.

  • Exceptional ability to handle challenging demands from senior business leaders, stakeholders, or their representatives, providing prompt and appropriate responses.

  • BA/BSc expected, recognised FM qualification or member of Institute of Workplace & Facilities Management (IWFM), NEBOSH certification preferred.

  • Experience of facilities management including directing operations, moves and changes, engineering, front of house, catering, and security services ideally in a Corporate environment.

  • Experience of dealing with high profile offices in key locations including threat assessment, control, and security requirements, used to seeking and acting on advice from security professionals/internal corporate security expertise.
