About the Department
UCCCC has one of the largest cancer clinical trials programs in the country and in the Chicago area, with nearly 500 adult and pediatric therapeutic trials actively accruing patients. Many of these studies are investigator-initiated, including Phase I or I/II trials, demonstrating UCCCC's commitment to translating basic research findings to the clinic through proof-of-principle and early-phase studies. UCCCC opens over 250 new trials each year and accrues approximately 900 participants to therapeutic trials each year.
Job Summary
This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Responsibilities
Organizes the daily workflow in Biofluids.
Oversees the work of Clinical Research Technicians and assigns workloads.
Collaborates with the research team to develop improvements to the workflow and methods for quality control.
Provides status updates to the Director of Biofluids.
Creates and amends standard of care documents as needed.
Answers queries from Clinical Research Coordinators, Data Managers, nurses and study sponsors.
Conducts ECGs and transmits results to clinical trial sponsors.
Reconciles PK schedule with sample collection kits; organizes kits.
Processes and ships patient specimens; tracks deviations.
Manages inventory of samples and ECG machines.
Maintains up-to-date and accurate usage logs of samples processed and ECG collections.
Assists with creating flow sheets according to instructions on study protocols and lab manuals.
Assists Director with hiring process.
Attends qualification and site initiation visits from study sponsors.
Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects. Conducts literature reviews and helps write reports and manuscripts. Ensures project compliance with different policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
Takes responsibility for the following non-laboratory duties: transcribing and coding data; developing data collection instruments; presenting research; and recruiting and scheduling research subjects. Acquires higher-level skills and knowledge in the process.
Performs other related work as needed.
