We have a great opportunity for a Sr. Director of Clinical Education and Strategy. The ideal candidate will lead the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Education and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) teams, playing a pivotal role in developing and implementing educational programs that drive clinical excellence and align with organizational goals.

This position focuses on enhancing clinical competency and documentation integrity for over 150 Nurse Practitioners. The Director must effectively operate within a business environment, bridging clinical, operational, and strategic leadership.

This individual will set the strategic direction for clinical education and CDI efforts, ensuring alignment with value-based care goals, risk adjustment strategies, and broader organizational metrics. Experience in risk adjustment and CDI, value-based care, leading diverse teams, and a strong executive presence are highly valued for success in this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Provide strategic leadership for NP Education and CDI teams, defining both short-term and long-term departmental goals.
  • Align clinical and CDI education goals with broader business objectives, value-based care initiatives, and clinical outcome metrics.
  • Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and excellence.
  • Act as a thought leader and advisor, providing expert guidance to operations, business, and clinical leadership.

Educational Program Development

  • Oversee comprehensive onboarding and training programs for Nurse Practitioners.

  • Create continuing education initiatives to enhance clinical documentation integrity and inter-professional collaboration.
  • Use metric-driven approach to evaluate and refine educational programs based on effectiveness, feedback, and evolving organizational needs.

Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)

  • Develop and oversee the short- and long-term strategy for the CDI program.  Establish and deliver on key metrics and SLAs. 
  • Orchestrate and execute on initiatives to ensure accurate, compliant, and value-driven documentation practices.
  • Establish and oversee a management process between the CDI team and operations to drive quality and performance outcomes.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends, measure success, and target areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize documentation processes that support risk adjustment, quality reporting, and reimbursement.
  • Clinical Audit Oversight

  • Oversee a comprehensive clinical audit process to ensure adherence to documentation standards, regulatory compliance, and quality care delivery.
  • Analyze audit findings to identify gaps and drive improvements in clinical documentation, coding, and provider performance.
  • Provide feedback to providers and leadership on audit outcomes and recommend actionable solutions to address areas of concern.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Build strong relationships with clinical, operational, and business leaders, aligning departmental efforts with organizational strategy.
  • Represent the education and CDI functions in executive-level meetings, presenting insights and progress on goals.
  • Foster collaboration between care teams, physicians, and administrative leadership to enhance patient care outcomes.

Compliance and Quality

  • Ensure all educational and CDI initiatives comply with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices.
  • Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and metrics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required.

  • Active Nurse Practitioner (NP), Medical Doctor (MD), or Physician Assistant (PA) license required.
  • Master’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in clinical education, CDI, or a related role in healthcare.
  • Proven experience in value-based care, risk adjustment, and clinical documentation improvement
  • Preferred: Experience in primary/multi-specialty care or nephrology
