About the role

Description

Vistra seeks an Exhibit Manager to provide exhibit management support to the Department of the Army’s Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA) and Department of Defense (DOD) Public Affairs.  This key position will be responsible for ensuring that Army exhibits in high foot traffic areas within the Pentagon communicate the Army story to a variety of audiences visiting the building on tours and on business. Visitors include correspondents from major media outlets, members of the Army, and members of other services and employees of the DOD. Primary locations include the Pentagon Visitors Center Exhibit, the Pentagon OCPA Hallway Exhibit, and Semi-Permanent Suite Exhibits.  


This position focuses on visually impactful storytelling through a variety of display formats to engage diverse audiences with Army heritage, values, and mission. The specialist will work closely with senior Army leaders to ensure that visual content aligns with Army communication strategies. 


 Visual Project Management 

  • Plan, design, develop, schedule, modify, monitor, and complete visual projects that include static exhibits, visitor interactives, animations, and training materials. 
  • Collaborate with OCPA personnel to ensure effective project management, with an emphasis on quality and timely delivery within budget constraints. 

Exhibit Design and Maintenance 

  • Pentagon Visitor Center Exhibit: Design, produce, and maintain a 10x10 exhibit that showcases Army pride and communicates the Army story to thousands of annual visitors. Perform routine maintenance and updates as needed, including changes to Medal of Honor recipient content. 
  • Pentagon OCPA Hallway Exhibit: Oversee a 200 sq. ft. display consisting of five themed walls with passive video equipment, communicating the Army's public affairs mission and legacy. Conduct preventative maintenance and updates as requested. 
  • Semi-Permanent Suite Exhibits: Maintain and update five displays, located within the Pentagon’s Apex corridors, performing semi-annual cleaning, repairs, and layout updates as required. 

Content Updates and Recommendations 

  • Provide up to five design recommendations for any of the managed exhibits when requested by OCPA, ensuring alignment with evolving Army messaging and new leadership vision. 
  • Submit detailed design concepts in 2-D and 3-D formats, including color imagery, for OCPA and Pentagon management review and approval. 

Stakeholder Collaboration and Approval 

  • Meet regularly with designated OCPA personnel to discuss creative and technical input for exhibit development, ensuring visual strategies align with communication objectives. 
  • Coordinate with Pentagon building management and stakeholders for exhibit installation and logistical requirements. 
  • Obtain government approval for all designs and updates prior to implementation. 

Compliance and Reporting 

  • Ensure all exhibit activities, updates, and recommendations comply with Army guidelines and contract specifications. 
  • Provide required documentation and reports as outlined in DI-MGMT-81605 for record-keeping and audit purposes. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5 years demonstrated strategic/tactical/media communication level experience within the last 10 years.
  • Education and Training: Advanced training in visual information, graphic design, or a related field. 
  • Experience: Demonstrated expertise in exhibit design and management, preferably within a government or military setting. Extensive experience in project management and visual storytelling. 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3-D drawing software, digital media, and design tools. Ability to import generic files from facility sites and adapt for rendering. 
  • Communication Skills: Superior communication abilities to effectively convey visual strategies and project objectives to leadership and team members. 
  • Leadership: Proven capability to manage complex projects, coordinate with senior stakeholders, and achieve high-quality outcomes under strict timelines. 

Additional Requirements 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong focus on detail and accuracy. 
  • Must be able to work effectively within the constraints of Pentagon security and access requirements. 
  • DOD SECRET Security Clearance.
