About the role

What you will do

The IT Finance Lead Project Financial Analyst drives results for the Johnson Controls IT organization, in partnership with the Project Management organization, to accurately reflect the financials for projects executed by the Johnson Controls IT organization.  The role partners with the Project & Portfolio management organization on the planning and control of financial results consistent with long-term business objectives and executes on the vision of IT Finance strategy provided by the VP, IT Finance.  This person will provide financial counseling to the Project & Portfolio management team, along with IT leadership on a wide variety of business/financial issues to ensure achievement of performance targets.

How you will do it

  • Consolidates, analyzes, and reviews monthly rolling forecasts and annual financial plans for a specific area of IT projects within our portfolio
  • Analyzes and reviews actual monthly financial performance.
  • Instinctively recognizes inconsistencies in financial data and initiates and manages the appropriate corrective action. 
  • Ensures accuracy of project financials in partnership with the Project & Portfolio Management team in our ERP & PPM tool
  • Prepares and storytelling of financial presentations for the IT & Project Management leadership team comprising of actual results, forecasts, industry views, operating results etc. to illustrate variance to our annual fiscal plan and balance of year financials
  • Provides consultation for proper coding of costs in our IT financials to ensure our projects are reflected correctly within our Enterprise Resource Planning tool (ERP)
  • Oversee project financial modeling, working to obtain internal management capital appropriation request (CAR’s) approvals & benefit valuation to enable the IT organization to provide results back to our Lines of Business for project outcomes
  • Provides consultation to the Project & Portfolio team on how to manage IT financial processes; i.e., payments to vendors / vendor inquiries / etc.

What we look for

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance OR at least 3-5 years project financial management experience
  • Enjoy working at a fast pace in a constantly evolving organization
  • Proven analytical skills, research capabilities and overall financial & project management acumen required
  • Excellent communications skills, including significant experience in written and oral reports and presentations to management. Should have ability to listen effectively, evaluate the most critical elements being communicated and communicate with team on an open and timely basis
