LEO Lecturer I (GIS 203) Geospatial Sciences - College of Innovation & Technology (Onsite)

Description

Minimum salary for this position is $8500 per 4-contact course.  The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for one  part-time faculty position at the Lecturer I level for the period of January 8, 2025 through April 22, 2025.  The postition(s) require teaching undergraduate level course work. Descriptions of the course to be taught is found below. We are looking for creative, collaborative, and energetic faculty members with a specialization in GIS Software. Responsibilities will include teaching courses and collaboration. 

GIS 203 Mapping and Spatical Data Science Geographic Information Science

Modality: Face2Face

Course Description:  Introductory study of spatial data analysis using geospatial technology, concepts and methods. Topics include spatial reasoning, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, data acquisition, mapping ethics, cartography, smart cities, web/mobile mapping, and GPS. Students complete mapping exercises to collect, assimilate, visualize and analyze geospatial data. The budget for this position is for the Winter 2025 term only.

Required Qualifications

Applicants for this lecturer instructor position must have: 

• Masters degree in GIS or related field.
• Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS)
• Excellent teaching/communication skills
