Description
Perform a variety of technical duties to assist dentist in the examination and treatment of patients; perform related duties involved in the care and maintenance of dental instruments, equipment and supplies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the dental treatment of patients to include seating patients, providing dentist with instruments and equipment, and mixing filling and impression materials, chart examination and treatment results on patient's dental record.
- Take and process x-rays
- Counsel patients about preventative dental care and nutrition
- Perform a variety of office management tasks
- Operatory and instrument infection control
- Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment for each patient
- Organizing and laying out instruments for dentist's use
- Handing instruments and other materials to dentist during procedures
- Taking impressions of patients' teeth for casts
- Using suction and swabs to keep patients' mouths clear and dry during procedures
- Applying topical anesthetic to patients' mouths
- Removing stitches
- Make temporary crowns
- Obtaining patients' dental records
- Questioning patients about their medical history and recording the information for dentist's reference
- Making patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements
- Current, unencumbered State of Kansas or National Certified or Registered Dental Assistant Credentials, preferred.
- CPR certification for Health Care Providers, required.
- Current vaccination record meeting ACIP Healthcare Workers Recommendations
- Graduate of accredited dental assisting program or at least 1 year of dental experience, preferred
- Nitrous Oxide certification, preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
