The Software Configuration Manager has the primary responsibility for software configuration management (SCM). To accomplish this, the Software Configuration Manager applies knowledge in source code configuration management, configuration identification and control, development processes and release management, to create, maintain and improve the software configuration management practices. The Software Configuration Manager provides guidance and mentors Software Architects and Developers in best practices related to SCM.
Your tasks:
- Overall responsibility for software configuration management, including defining and upholding best practices and processes related to SCM
- Responsible for control of technical configuration of components, systems and releases, by applying set processes and change control management
- Main point of contact for internal and external parties on SCM
- Involved in release management and version control/management
- Control and manage configuration changes across multiple internal and external software components
- Documentation of SCM, including software release documentation
- Ensuring efficient parallel development activities and version control
- Improve and optimize the SCM process and tools
- Guide and mentor Software Architects and Developers on SCM best practices
- Continuously contribute to improve processes related to software development together with the development team
Requirements
- Successfully completed studies in computer sciences or another comparable study program, or a successfully completed training in a comparable IT profession
- 5+ years of experience working in the field of Configuration Management or a similar role
- Good working experience in software development environments using Linux and GIT
- Professional knowledge of different SCM tools like: Jira, Bitbucket, Git, SVN, DOORS
- Good understanding of an end-to-end product lifecycle
- Working knowledge of programming using e.g. C/C++ is advantageous
- Knowledge of Agile, software development V model and DO-178 standard is advantageous
