What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):
- Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing required
- Bachelors’ degree, preferred
- One (1) year experience with SED children OR 40 hours on the job training
- One (1) year supervisory experience, preferred
- Valid California RN License
How you will make a difference (job overview):
The Registered Nurse is assigned to the acute hospital and supervises, monitors nursing personnel on an assigned shift and interacts with other departments and nursing units in the facility. Work with physicians and social workers to secure informed consent for medication from parents, courts, conservators, etc. Take physician orders for medications, seclusions and restraint, denial of rights, medical procedures, lab work, x-rays, etc., and make sure each order is implemented. Observe adolescents’ physical and psychiatric conditions and documents/reports changes to the Psychiatrist or other Medical Doctor on call. Upon verification of informed consents and physician’s orders, administer medication as prescribed. Order and ensure on-going supply of individual medications for each child. Attend Treatment Team meetings. Take vital signs as ordered. Initiate seclusion and restraint in an emergency until MD order can be obtained within one (1) hour of intervention. Monitor all seclusion and restraint activity including range of motion, release criteria, etc. Provide medication education and information on health practices to clients.

- A comprehensive mental health in patient residential facility for adolescents
- Serving up to 60 adolescents (ranging from ages 12-17) statewide
- Intensive residential services dedicated to serving clients with serious mental health problems with the highest dignity and quality of services since 1988
- Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility, Community Treatment Facility and Non-Public High School – 24/7 locked facility
- Multidisciplinary Mental Health Services, Therapeutic Behavioral Health Services, and Intensive Day Treatment Program
