This role will collaborate across the Surgical OU Research and Development organization to bring innovative new medical devices to patients. The successful candidate will work with a cross functional team to execute functional decompositions, customer and product requirement development, and system and subsystem architecture documentation. She or he will also actively participate or lead trade-off studies, prototype evaluations, and clinical acceptability studies.<p></p><p><b>Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:</b></p><ul><li>Report to a Systems Engineer Manager within the Systems Center of Excellence of the Surgical Operating Unit, R&amp;D division</li><li>Translate user needs and business inputs to customer and stakeholder requirements and hands-on work with the Robotic System to evaluate user facing behavior</li><li>Analyze use cases, document product lifecycle, and define use conditions</li><li>Perform functional analysis and functional allocation; develop and manage product requirements; document system and subsystem architecture</li><li>Partner with design quality assurance in risk management activities including preliminary hazard analyses and risk mitigation strategies</li><li>Employ Model Based Systems Engineering to document and communicate system design</li><li>Oversee, and be deeply acquainted with, regulated development processes and standards for risk management, usability, and safety to ensure systems design and documentation meet relevant safety and regulatory standards</li><li>Support Systems Engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle including design change impact analysis, labelling and packaging requirements, field issue investigation</li><li>Investigate system integration issues to identify root cause and propose resolution</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Required Knowledge and Experience:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area with 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience</li><li>Advanced knowledge of Systems Engineering principals and best practices</li><li>Experience developing complex electromechanical medical devices</li><li>Strong grasp of design controls and good documentation practices</li><li>Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute to a cross functional team</li><li>Experience in requirements management, risk management, and system architecture documentation</li><li>Strong communication skills and English language proficiency</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Physical Job Requirements</b><br/><br/>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><h1><b>Benefits &amp; Compensation</b></h1><p><b>Medtronic offers a competitive Salary and flexible Benefits Package</b><br/>A commitment to our employees lives at the core of our values.
