Job Description Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Medical Physics, Medical Physicist (A/B/C) is an ABR/ABMP board eligible or board-certified Medical Physicist who will play a primary role in meeting the overall clinical physics needs in the Penn Medicine network. Specifically, the Medical Physicist will provide clinical coverage of medical physics activities, including treatment planning support, machine QA support, treatment planning, and performing special treatment procedures, such as 4DCT simulation, brachytherapy, and implementing new treatment techniques. The Medical Physicist is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies. For this position, the primary site of coverage is the Chester County Hospital (CCH).

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the clinical aspects of radiation therapy treatment planning and machine support including weekly chart checks, initial chart checks, planning support, 4DCT etc.

• Will participate in routine physics QA program such as Conventional and CT-simulator QA, Brachytherapy QA procedures; perform linear accelerator calibration and monthly / Annual mechanical and dosimetry QA; participate in the quality assurance for proton/photon units, ancillary equipment and procedures used in Radiation Therapy, Commissioning of new equipment, i.e., linear accelerators, proton or photon techniques and simulators; assist in developing quality assurance policies, institute procedures, and entering institution’s Condition Reporting System (CRS) for safety and quality issues; participate in other QA activities, such as morning huddle etc.

• Will assume lead duties for procedures or clinical activities : photon or proton machine support and process improvement projects, writing policies and procedures for new therapy techniques and QA processes
