As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend  you’ll have the opportunity to influence and scale infrastructure that supports critical workloads across Capital One, contributing to major technology transformations.

Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One’s most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Create a scalable platform solutions that power cloud-native infrastructure, focusing on automation, resiliency, and operational excellence.

• Work with engineers to drive initiatives as a senior individual contributor, supporting a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.

• Own technical roadmaps for infrastructure capabilities such as smart scaling, regional failover, container orchestration, and platform observability.

• Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional partners to build and operate reliable, efficient platforms.

• Stay current with technology trends and experiment, learn, and share knowledge within and outside the organization.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, or Go

• 2 + years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

• 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks

• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 for Principal Associate Senior Software Engineer; $158,600 - $181,000 for Senior Software Engineer

 

Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600 for Principal Associate Senior Software Engineer; $144,200 - $164,600 for Senior Software Engineer

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
