ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation (MLFC) and the Division for Advancing Education Policy, Practice and Leadership invites applications to establish a pool for Faculty Associates in the Environmental Education Program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Successful candidates will teach in-person or online Environmental Education certificate courses at the undergrad or graduate level, prepare course materials such as PowerPoints, activities, etc., on the canvas shell and/or in person, evaluate and grade student work, provide constructive feedback and assist students with academic success. The Environmental Education program welcomes applications from candidates who align with ASU’s charter and are committed to inclusive excellence and student success. The successful candidate will also advance ASU’s Design Aspirations through teaching and service.

Faculty Associate positions are one semester (7.5 or 15 weeks), non-benefits-eligible, and fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Individuals hired as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
This recruitment is to establish a part-time hiring pool for temporary and semester appointments. Applications are considered for the current year only. Applicants who are not hired are encouraged to reapply for the next posting.
Essential Duties: This position serves as a lead instructor and includes teaching environmental education certificate courses during class times (F2F) or online, conducting field labs, grading, managing the course’s Canvas (learning management system) page, and establishing warm and supportive relationships with students through class, office hours, emails, and meetings as needed. If graders are assigned to the course, the lead instructor will organize the division of students between the lead instructor and grader(s). The lead instructor will oversee and communicate course expectations to the grader(s) assigned to the course.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Environmental Education or related field at time of appointment
- 2 years of teaching or related experience in environmental education (PreK-16 grade)
Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of completion of ASU Environmental Education certification is required if degree in is a related field, at time of hire or within first year.
