Job Description

Position Summary

The Dementia Program Educator will equip team members with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to provide exceptional, person-centered care for residents living with dementia. By creating consistent practices across all communities, this role will enhance the daily experiences of residents while strengthening the confidence and resilience of those who care for them.

Essential Duties

Education & Program Leadership

  • Conduct 150+ hours of onsite education and coaching annually.
  • Deliver in-person dementia education and coaching at a CLC/CLS community (various Colorado locations) at least twice each month.
  • Implement and continuously improve the organization’s dementia education curriculum.
  • Develop engaging educational resources, toolkits, and training materials that remain current with evidence-based practices.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through pre- and post-training assessments, competency validation, and ongoing quality improvement.
  • Coach executive directors, clinical leaders, and department managers in leading person-centered dementia support.

Resident & Family Impact

Through education and coaching, this role will help teams:

  • Develop individualized approaches that honor each resident's life story, preferences, strengths, and abilities.
  • Utilize evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions that reduce distress and improve quality of life.
  • Create meaningful engagement opportunities that promote purpose, connection, and joy.

Team Member Development

  • Train and coach employees across every department—including nursing, community life, dining, housekeeping, therapy, maintenance, and leadership.
  • Develop Dementia Support Champions within each community to sustain education and best practices.
  • Mentor leaders in relationship-centered communication and culture-based dementia support.
  • Support employee confidence, engagement, and retention by equipping care partners with practical tools that reduce stress and burnout.
  • Develop at least one Dementia Support champion at each of the communities, including Rhythms Home Care.
  • Improve dementia support knowledge through pre- and post-training assessments

Organizational Excellence and Strategy

  • Standardize dementia support practices across all eight communities.
  • Supporting regulatory readiness and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promoting person-centered approaches that reduce unnecessary behavioral escalations and reliance on medications.
  • Positioning CLC as a recognized leader in dementia education and innovation throughout Colorado.
  • Building sustainable education programs that continue to benefit residents and care partners for years to come.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years experience in senior living and long-term care operations.
  • Expertise in person-centered dementia support and adult education.
  • Certification as an Eden Associate through The Eden Alternative.
