Global Knowledge Management Project Director

We are seeking a Global Knowledge Management Project Director who will provide strategic direction and contribute to the successful performance of the anticipated five-year USAID-funded Global Knowledge Management (KM) Project that focuses on family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) and other global health areas. The Project Director will have overall responsibility for the coordination of project activities and staff. They will possess deep applied experience in KM programs operating at country and headquarters levels and demonstrated abilities in leadership, strategic thinking, effective team development and management, and change management. They will provide strategic direction and management for the project and proactively engage a broad range of donors, implementers, and other key stakeholders in advancing the practice of KM globally. They will have principal responsibility for the representation of the project to USAID and will cultivate open and collaborative management relationships with the project management team at USAID Washington and Missions.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic leadership

• Provide strategic direction, vision, and overall leadership to achieve project results and goals.
• Provide leadership and direction to ensure the project’s technical and financial integrity to achieve goals and corresponding objectives and targets.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including USAID, government partners, and consortium partners, to coordinate project activities and reporting.
• Ensure high-quality program implementation consistent with USAID guidelines, protocols, information, and reporting systems, including providing annual work plans, progress reports, and project activity updates.
• Lead results reporting to USAID by providing written documentation on monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) activities and indicator results for progress and annual reports, as appropriate.
• Cultivate strategic relationships and alliances with other USAID projects and represent the project through international, regional, or national meetings, conferences, and presentations.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that promotes innovation and learning.

Monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning

• Oversee the development, implementation, and revisions of the project’s activity monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan (AMELP) and use data to inform strategic decision-making and project planning.
• Develop a learning agenda and ensure methodological rigor of the research undertaken.
• Ensure compliance with USAID research and evaluation policy and develop, as needed, guidance, tools, and mechanisms to operationalize the USAID research and evaluation policy requirements.

Supervision and training

• Lead and supervise a team of diverse staff, ensuring their professional development and effective performance.
• Coordinate all capacity strengthening activities with project staff and implementing partners.
• Strengthen the capacity of project staff to translate evidence from monitoring and evaluation into actionable recommendations.

• Master’s Degree (M.A., MHS, MPH) in public health, international health, social and behavior change, or relevant technical area.
  

• Twenty plus years of demonstrated and increasing experience in overseeing and managing all or large components of large and complex USAID-funded projects implemented by multi-partner consortia.
  

• Demonstrated leadership in social and behavior change.

• At least 15 years of experience in knowledge management at global, regional, and country level.
  
• Demonstrated ability to manage a project of this magnitude and complexity and have at least 10 years of experience in leading, managing, and implementing large international health and/or development projects of similar size.
• Demonstrated experience working in partnership with host governments, international donors, and implementing partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work in cross-cultural contexts with humility, empathy, and respect.
• Demonstrated deference for lived experience as expertise.
• Ability to travel to the CCP's areas of implementation in countries throughout Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
• Manages subordinate supervisors who directly and indirectly supervise over 30 employees in the execution of headquarters and country activities.
