Title and Summary

Director People Business Partner

To provide business partner support in all People matters for specific and distinct business/functional areas at our regional HQ, along with a specific focus upon Social Relations matters for our Europe region. The goal is to attract, develop, engage and retain high quality talent at our regional HQ site, in line with broader Mastercard business plans and our broader People strategy.

Role and responsibilities

Partner with the various site-based business and function management teams in support of their overall business goals, through the effective implementation of corporate, regional and local HR strategies, initiatives, guidelines, processes and systems. Act as a strategic advisor, change agent and business partner with the various senior management team members, to assess the People & Capability implications, based upon market and business plans. Both medium and long-term planning will be required, in order to continue our journey towards creating a sustainable, high performing and ‘most admired’ company.  Several of our matrix teams at Waterloo HQ site have their business focus at the country and regional levels and occasionally global level, so there are a broad range of business and talent needs arising.

Translate the various business strategies and plans to determine the highest priorities, initiatives and resources required to deliver against these goals across all People disciplines, including organization design and development, resourcing, talent acquisition, culture change, talent management development and succession planning, compensation and employee relations.

This role also supports our HQ site and functional leadership team members, in partnership with our Western Europe GEO People Lead, Legal and ER/ESG region leads, towards coordination and management of matters relating to local Works Councils and any related social relations forums, effective today, but also anticipating any future European developments.

Key accountabilities of the role:

• Partners with select senior management and people leaders across HQ site, to ensure alignment, understanding and implementation of Global and European business strategies, policies and programmes, and create and deliver cost effective People solutions in support of these needs.
• Partners with site senior management to provide strategic direction and delivery related to HR activities such as organisational design, talent acquisition, succession management, talent management and development, employee relations matters, resource planning, compensation and benefits and performance management.
• Builds and develops leadership capabilities, to support leadership succession and people management effectiveness, through coaching, identifying development programs and facilitating team sessions to raise the bar on performance.
• Acts as a ‘Change Agent’ and drives cultural change, to meet longer term business goals, strategies and revenue targets. Supports transformational change programmes, including leadership development, behavioural and process change, such as with flexible work solutions, MA Way and broader Diversity DEI and ESG matters.
• Supports site-based leadership with strategic initiatives that involve P&C cultural and communications matters such as the annual Employee Experience Survey, Performance Management cycles and Multisource Feedback listening programs and engages broader management across the matrix structure.
• Manages Belgian Employee Relations and coordinates with the Works Council, DS Délégation Syndicale and CPPT on a proactive basis with a business focus, consistent with broader Company and Legal strategy, local market practices and local legislation. This may also require broader region Social Relations coordination, where ESG or other matters arise, as part of broader region or global coordination initiatives.
• Represents the site and broader regional Peo
