Head of Operations - Axiom Advice & Counsel (Law Firm)

Axiom Advice & Counsel is the newly formed licensed Arizona alternative business structure (ABS) law firm and innovative venture of Axiom Global Inc. We aim to develop a new type of law practice that will match Axiom’s reputation for excellence, top talent, and client focus.  AA&C represents a diverse set of clients, ranging from growing businesses represented solely by the firm, to global multinationals with large in-house teams. About the role:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, motivated, and thoughtful Head of Operations to lead the operational set up, develop the innovation roadmap, and manage the day-to-day operations of Axiom Advice & Counsel. This role will initially report to Axiom Advice & Counsel’s Designated Principal and will be strategic and visible within Axiom, with direct exposure to Axiom senior leadership. 

As Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the development of business processes to enable stellar law firm operational performance. You will be instrumental in developing the legal practice as an innovative, leading law firm able to further advance the transformation of the legal industry.  Partnering closely with the Designated Principal, the Managing Partner, the Compliance Lawyer, and Axiom’s Director, AA&C Business Development, the Head of Operations will own the translation of Axiom Advice & Counsel’s objectives into an operating model that enables the achievement of performance targets, stellar client experience and compliance with all rules of professional conduct. In close collaboration with Axiom Advice & Counsel’s lawyers, you will ensure that client and lawyer needs are met quickly. 

The Head of Operations will leverage Axiom’s resources across all functions, in particular Talent, HR, Legal, IT, to develop the business build out project plan and operating model that leverages the Axiom functions delivering support services on an ongoing basis. Day to day, you will manage the HR, IT, and Finance needs of Axiom Advice & Counsel, developing a world-class support model. You will manage Axiom Advice & Counsel’s direct relationships with vendors, including legal technology suppliers. Partnering with the Compliance Lawyer, you will drive implementation of compliant operational processes, compliance monitoring, and reporting. You will develop internal facing materials and policies, growth initiatives, and guidance for Axiom teams who will be providing support to Axiom Advice & Counsel.

Responsibilities

• In close collaboration with the Managing Partner, effectively manage day-to-day operations of the firm.
• Develop effective and speedy onboarding process for new partners and allied legal professionals.
• Manage client relationships and service levels from an operational standpoint, including intake, billings, engagement documentation, conflicts checking, and making recommendations for adopting new processes to facilitate providing legal services competently and efficiently.
• Working with Axiom Strategy & Development, develop, plan and execute implementation of processes to set up the law firm operations, covering all functions (HR, IT, Finance) to ensure seamless and compliant order-to-cash and hire-to-retire workflows.
• Direct day-to-day oversight of financial, IT, HR, regulatory matters of the firm, and manage any issue escalations.
• Engage with IT support and vendors to ensure that partners and staff have the equipment and software necessary to successfully do their job while maintaining the confidentiality of clients.
• On an ongoing basis, key point of contact for Axiom functions that provide services to Axiom Advice & Counsel.
• In close collaboration with Compliance Lawyer, develop, implement, and manage processes, controls, and training to ensure compliance with all policies (including intake and conflicts) and applicable rules of professional conduct by Axiom Advice & Counsel and any Axiom teams supporting the law firm.
