Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Operations assists and oversees the many aspects of managing the business and operations of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Assistant Director is responsible to oversee all event management aspects, including the planning, coordination, implementation and supervision of all on-and off-site events. Manage the facility scheduling and coordination of internal and outside events, concessions operations, and more. Assist the Sr. Deputy Director of Athletics to ensure proper federal, state, Minnesota State system and MSU financial policies and regulations are being followed and proper documentation is being completed. Act on behalf of the Sr. Deputy Director as applicable or needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of one (1) year of professional experience working within a college or university athletic department relating to one or more of the following areas: game management, event planning, facility scheduling, financial administration and concessions operations or two (2) years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and/or professional experience.
Preferred Qualification
Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of an athletic department at a college or university.
Knowledge and understanding of NSIC, NCAA, CCHA/WCHA and/or other similar associations to work with compliance, equity and other related athletic issues.
Ability to acquire and follow proper State, MnSCU and University regulations as they apply to the operations of the department.
Demonstrated record of effective cash-handling responsibilities
Demonstrated abilities to manage and supervise groups of individuals.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and knowledge of facility scheduling software.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain multiple on-going projects at any given time.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, families, and professionals.
