About You and this Role

In this role, you will serve as a Pipeline Integrity Engineer aligned to Dow's Gulf Coast Pipeline organization.

The Gulf Coast Pipeline System includes several large pump and compressor stations and 3,500 miles of pipelines transporting materials across the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast within Dow plants, across sites, as well as in the public domain. Products transported include LPG, ethane, propane, ethylene, propylene, and natural gas.

Gulf Coast Pipeline is one of the three Performance Centers that makes up the Salt Mining, Underground Storage and Pipelines (MSP Business) Value Center which is a part of the HC&E business. The Integrity Management Program (IMP) is a Government mandated program aimed at improving pipeline safety through accelerated inspection, testing, and repairs of cross-country pipelines in hazardous liquid and gas service. The GCPL IMP Engineer has the primary responsibility for managing the completion of IMP assessments and data analysis activities to determine if the IMP activities are achieving the desired results of being in compliance with regulations and improving safety, reliability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality of Front End Loading (FEL) job planning for IMP activities.
  • Complete and Lead IMP Assessment closure reports.
  • Inspection method selection based on relevant threats and also recommend Pipeline repairs.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of DOT regulations (49 CFR 192 & 195) and industry standards to determine applicability to the IMP program.
  • Perform Threat Analysis and risk assessment analysis to develop contingency plans and preventive/mitigative action for IMP activities.
  • Review and build compliance plans.
  • Investigate IMP issues that meet regulatory trigger criteria.
  • Continually update Procedures and Protocols for compliance.
  • Establish and maintain budgets.
  • Be a leader in improving EH&S through all aspects of the organization.

  

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (i.e. engineering, pipeline, DOT compliance, etc.).
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25% annually.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with ASME Standards such as ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8

Additional Notes

  • This position can be located in Angleton or Houston, Texas.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role and may be provided based on eligibility.
