OnsiteCollins Aerospace is looking for a Project Engineer to work within the engineering Regional & Business value stream. You will be responsible for Wheels & Brakes engineering activities related to Regional & Business programs including new product development/introduction and production. You will mainly support new product development and will report to the Regional & Business Value Stream Engineering Manager. In addition, you may also periodically support product improvements and cost reduction projects for in-production programs.
- The position is working onsite at our Troy OH facility.

What You Will Do
- Manage the planning, execution and tracking/reporting of all engineering activities related to new product development/introduction for wheels & brakes product line with help from supervision.
- Support the NPI project lead in the product development process through major program milestone reviews (PDR, CDR , V&V and EIS).
- Coordinate and drive assigned engineering tasks and actions to closure in a timely fashion while providing updates to the NPI manager and Value Stream lead.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive the mitigations to closure with assistance from NPI project lead/manager.
- Lead projects on product improvements, cost reductions and manufacturing support for in-production programs. This is carried out by coordinating with the various support organizations to implement changes and demonstrate continued compliance to the equipment specification.
- Supports manufacturing with responsibility for material nonconformance disposition, supplier change evaluation and design and specification changes to accommodate manufacturing processes where it does not impact performance or service life.
- Communicate and present technical and project related information to senior level leadership.
- Travel less 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications You Must Have
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
- Experience reading and understanding mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of basic GD&T principles
Qualifications We Prefer
- Engineering project management experience
- Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methodologies: Lean Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
- Aerospace industry experience
- Experience with design and development of new product
- Strong written (especially technical writing) and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
