Job Description
AECOM is seeking for an Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) Managed Lanes Supervisor for employment in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
The RTMC Managed Lanes Supervisor position is responsible for the administration and direct supervision of the express lane and ramp signal control room staff. The supervisor function will make decisions pertaining to the control room operations requiring a high degree of experience and judgment and must facilitate the smooth and balanced operation of the control room.
The routine responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Continuous supervision of 24 hours/day, 7 days/week operations being on-call outside normal shift and at other selected times.
- Facilitate operations by guiding critical control room operation decisions, developing special events response plans, guidance during severe events, and generating severe event response reports related to express lanes and ramp signal operations.
- Coordinating control room activities by assisting in managing responses to disasters and high-profile special events and accommodating the data needs of special agencies and third parties, etc.
- Responsible for day-to-day monitoring and balancing of the control room activities, direction, and incentives among staff, and developing team atmosphere.
- Develop ideas on how to implement system and operational improvements (e.g., modifications in software, hardware, field equipment, operations, and coordination procedures, etc.,) to increase the efficiency of the control room operations.
- Balancing work loads of control room staff by instructing staff to assist others as required, by assigning reporting tasks during less busy times, and by ensuring that staff resources are being utilized effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in developing a training program, guidelines, and standards for the RTMC Express Lane and Ramp Signal Operators to use.
- Assisting in conducting tours for external groups visiting the RTMC.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement:
- HS + 2 or more years prior experience as a Traffic Monitoring Operator or other related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Joint Task Force (JTF) Security Clearance Process which includes fingerprinting process.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment..
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time monitoring Intelligent Transportation Systems such CCTV camera displays, meters, law enforcement radio broadcasts, answering/responding to calls and communicating to other staff or partner agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of key management concepts.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information in layman’s terms.
- Ability to work alternate work schedules and be on-call 24 hours/day.
- Skilled in the use of Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS) applications.
- Understanding Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) and traffic engineering principles
- Ability to write reports, correspondence, and manuals.
- Ability to coordinate real-time activities and priorities.
- Direct experience with the day-to-day operations of a similar center.
