General Description:

The Supply Chain Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will work as a member of the OU Health Supply Chain Information Systems team to further ongoing initiatives of streamlining and enhancing operational reporting for Supply Chain.  This role's focus will be on, but not limited to, enabling BI and data-driven decision-making for OU Health Supply Chain.  The Supply Chain BI Analyst is responsible for creating a reporting ecosystem that is responsive to both current and future state needs of Supply Chain by organizing and synthesizing content in a way that is easily digestible to key decision makers.

This position may be performed remotely from the following USA-based locations:  Arkansas,  Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Please only apply if you live and work full-time in one of the states listed, or plan to relocate to one of these states before starting your employment with OU Health. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Business Intelligence reporting tools such as Tableau, SQL queries, Excel and Access, in the design and development of data analytics projects for Supply Chain
  • Partner with the OU Health Information Systems Analytics team and other technology teams to deliver a stable and highly available platform for publishing and distribution of reports
  • Develop SQL queries, views or stored procedures for more complex reporting needs; collaborating with Supply Chain leadership
  • Apply strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities to enable business leadership to make effective, data-driven decisions
  • Understand how data flows between Materials Management Information System (MMIS) and its downstream and upstream systems, to ensure data is organized properly for reporting/analytics
  • Provide actionable intelligence with existing metrics or identify, develop and propose new metrics; streamline and enhance operational reporting
  • Clearly convey the key insights or “story” the data reveals in a visual format that is grouped, summarized, or formatted to be easily understood and actionable
  • Work with Supply Chain’s internal and external customers on BI projects to understand requirements, analyzing the request, providing estimates of effort involved and developing an effective solution to address the request
  • Create ad hoc reporting, as needed, per requester specifications and agreed upon dates/specifications
  • Apply strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities to enable business leadership to make effective, data-driven decisions
  • Ensure current report provides necessary support and properly answers questions for Supply Chain internal and external customers and make necessary adjustments as needed
  • Collaborate with support team in testing new reports and analytics for validation, accuracy and usability; create test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing
  • Document existing data sources and uses of data.  Facilitate a high standard of documentation that will ensure a successful representation for data knowledge over time
  • Collaborate on building data repository of MMIS data
  • Secure resources from appropriate OU Health entities and project leaders for projects or problem resolution
  • Collaborate with support teams for resolution of custom reporting applications/ analytics developed in-house

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. 

Experience: 2 or more years business analytics and / or intelligence experience required.  4 or more years of experience in healthcare Supply Chain or supporting analyst role preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None required. Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) through American Hospital Association preferred. Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement program is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Healthcare IT experience preferred in analyzing, programming, designing, testing, and/or implementing computer-based systems
  • Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Critical thinking and an analytical mind
  • Ability to synthesize problems quickl
