The Job: 

• Assist with design, implementation, and delivery of plant ergonomic safety training, including new employee safety orientation and on-boarding as required by State and Federal OSHA and Stanley Black & Decker.
• Coach employees in ergonomic safety improvements in movement, posture, and workstation set up.
• Assist in:
  • Conducting Job Safety Analyses, Job Functional Evaluations, PPE Hazard Assessments, identification of root cause(s) of incidents, and resolution investigations in alignment with Operations, Quality, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Analyzing the interaction between people and machinery/equipment.
  • Assessing the design of products/systems via practical experiments and making them easier to use.
  • Identifying problems by observing and interviewing individuals in particular environments.
  • Undertaking risk assessments within the workplace.

The Person:  

• 2-4 years of experience with an emphasis in ergonomics or equivalent experience in a technical environment requiring adherence to strong health and safety practices
• Associates or Bachelors degree in occupational safety or athletic training, (or equivalent) desired
• Strong ability to lead, motivate, engage, and influence others.
• Good computer skills in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment within a complex reporting matrix.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to walk and stand frequently during an 8–10-hour period
• Must be able to perform occasional lifting of to 33 lbs independently.
• Must be able to work in a manufacturing plant with varying climate.
