itrek launched in 2011 with a mission to empower leaders to engage their networks in meaningful Israel experiences, fostering an understanding and appreciation of Israel’s unique culture, diversity, richness and complex reality. More than 25,000 graduate students representing 130 nationalities from schools in the U.S., Canada and Europe have traveled to Israel through itrek. Over the last two years, itrek has expanded beyond graduate school students by piloting Launchpad, a program that connects with mission aligned leaders and organizations to create Israel Treks for their influential peers and members. In July 2024, Schusterman Family Philanthropies REALITY journeys was brought under itrek. REALITY will continue to bring leaders from diverse backgrounds and sectors on formative learning journeys to Israel.
itrek seeks a dynamic Senior Institutional Giving Associate (SIGA) to play a key role in crafting communications for institutional supporters. Reporting to the Director of Development & Institutional Giving (DODIG), the IGA will be an integral member of the four-person (and growing!) Development Team, contributing to the development of institutional strategies, drafting grant proposals and reports, supporting meetings, and assisting with org-wide written communications to funders. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and overall communicator with an eye for detail and organization. Currntly, itrek generates upwards of $11M annually, with over $8M generated from institutional funders. The IGA will join itrek at an exciting time when the organization is raising the financial resources to support a budget of more than $15M.
Primary Responsibilities
Institutional Advancement (75%)
- Take the lead as the primary grant writer, crafting compelling proposals and reports that drive itrek’s partnerships with institutional funders and attract new, high-impact supporters
- Own the entire grant process by coordinating across the development, programs, and finance teams, ensuring the seamless and timely delivery of all materials to meet and exceed deadlines
- Represent itrek in external meetings alongside the DODIG, attending key calls with institutional funders and prospects, taking charge of follow-up communications and serving as a thought-partner on moves management.
- Serve as a communications support for the CEO, CGO, and the DODIG, managing and delivering high-priority development-related correspondence
- Lead comprehensive research efforts on current and prospective foundations and other high-potential donors, contributing to a data-driven, strategic fundraising approach
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team, ensuring budget-related information is seamlessly aligned with the narrative of proposals and reports to strengthen the financial case for support
- Manage vital records and databases, maintaining meticulous tracking of grants, proposals, and reports using advanced project management tools to ensure accountability and organizational excellence
Organizational Storytelling & Communications (15%)
- Create cohesive and compelling organizational communications (including monthly newsletters, eJP articles, and other external opportunities to share itrek’s impact) that align with fundraising goals, elevating itrek's brand and donor outreach efforts
Growth Team Responsibilities (10%)
- Play an active role in executing fundraising events, providing targeted prospect research and event planning support
- Contribute to the Growth Team’s overall efforts, engaging in department-wide campaigns and stewardship activities
Profile and Qualifications
- A minimum of 4+ years professional experience with a focus on writing
- Passion for itrek’s mission
- Ability to adapt messaging to a range of audiences
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information to major donors, foundation professionals, top management, and staff
- Ability to synthesize information and write persuasively
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Skilled at multi-tasking; able to organize, manage, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations
- Proactive and self-driven, while also able to collaborate across teams
- Excitement to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, committed team
