Senior Accountant, Lease Accounting

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As the Senior Accountant, Lease Accounting, you will play a key role within the Controllership function responsible for the global standardization and streamlined execution of lease technology, processes, and business operations in accordance with US GAAP and NIKE Accounting Policy. NIKE’s lease technology and global lease portfolio provide a number of opportunities to design, implement, and support sustainable controlling processes to enable ongoing growth and complexity as Nike's strategic investment portfolio expands and scales to enable NIKE, Inc.'s growth trajectory. This role will play an imperative role in maintaining and improving this capability in partnership with the Lease Administration team and our Technology partners.
You will also be responsible for preparing the quarterly and annual corporate consolidation of relevant lease reports, financial schedules, and disclosures required by various groups within the organization. You will drive and support projects focused on implementing world-class global policies, processes, and controls. You will actively collaborate and partner with finance and operations across Nike Geographies to enable and execute critical projects and initiatives impacting the real estate portfolio across our retail, workplace, and supply chain strategies.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this role, your key responsibilities would include:
- Driving continuous improvements and standardization to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of lease accounting technology, processes, and financial reporting;
- Engaging key business leaders to obtain visibility and provide accounting guidance for enabling accurate lease accounting processes, systems, reporting, and controls;
- Responsible for completing monthly and quarterly deliverables;
- Reviewing lease accounting requirements and maintaining effective internal controls for Global reporting of lease expenditures and commitments;
- Communicating with finance and controlling partners to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables in accordance with US GAAP and NIKE Accounting Policy;
- Participating in the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual operational results; continuously adding value and being a trusted business partner;
- Being part of the larger NIKE Controlling Organization embracing standard methodologies and driving process excellence to complete Global Lease Accounting initiatives.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will be part of the Controlling organization. In this role, you will be working cross-functionally with collaborators from Controlling, Finance, and Real Estate with a focus on our retail, workplace, and supply chain strategic investments across Nike.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance or related field
- Proven ability in accounting or related functions
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is strongly preferred
- Strong enthusiasm and passion for the NIKE brand;
- Superb communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with senior leadership team;
- Strong ability to handle and effectively prioritize numerous and competing deliverables;
- Strong ability to seek information and problem-solve
- Passion to drive and innovate process
- Strong critical thinking skills in order to identify issues and accounting impacts outside of the standard process
- Proficiency with SAP ERP, TRIRIGA, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint systems are strongly preferred.
