Description

The Department of Technology Management and Innovation at NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for part-time, non-tenured instructors of MG-GY 6303 Operations Management in Fall 2025 semester, with a start date of September 2, 2025, and an end date of December 21, 2025.

The Department of Technology Management and Innovation at  NYU Tandon manages the graduate level course MG-GY 6303 Operations Management, which focuses on developing a deeper understanding of the role that operations management plays in determining business strategy and in developing competitive advantage. Participants discuss the operational design and managerial implications when the emphasis of the operations group is on knowledge management as well as on production and facilities management; managing the effective integration of technology, people and operating systems; understanding the complexities and challenges of operations management; the challenges of developing and managing supply chain networks; and the critical role of technology in developing operational capabilities in an organization.

A typical teaching load is 37.5 hours for the whole semester, which includes 14 lecture meetings, including lectures, case study, discussion and one weekly office hour. More exactly, the lecture time is every Thursday, 6 pm – 8:30 pm), and 1 final exam section (2.5 hours). 

 

Qualifications

The adjunct instructor’s primary responsibility will be teaching the course and ensuring that students achieve the intended learning outcomes. This includes:

  • Delivering weekly lectures and leading discussions.
  • Designing assignments, quizzes, projects and exams.
  • Evaluating individual assignments and group project reports, providing timely feedback (typically within one week).
  • Grading quizzes and exams promptly (typically within one week).
  • Designing and managing a course project, with clear milestones for students to follow.
  • Responding to student questions related to course content, assignments, and projects in a timely manner.

We seek applicants with expertise in relevant engineering, science, or management fields. Ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Operations Management or a closely related field (required).
  • Teaching Experience: Documented record of successful teaching at the graduate level, with excellent student evaluations.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of operations management, including supply chain management, production and facilities management, technology integration, and strategic operations.
  • Professional Engagement: Strong industry connections and/or applied research experience that can enhance classroom learning.
  • Pedagogical Skills: Ability to apply a variety of instructional methods (lectures, case studies, discussions, and experiential activities) to engage a diverse graduate student population.
