SUMMARY OF DUTIES: 
The Lead Software Engineer (SAP IBP) provides high quality software systems by analyzing requirements, providing functional design, configuring software, supporting testing and deployment. The Lead Software Engineer works closely with customers, business analysts and team members to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality functional solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and in compliance with the organization’s architectural standards. Responsible for analyzing and bringing product releases to Amtrak. The role is also a point of escalation for operational support for assigned systems.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides functional support as part of a diverse team and provides solutions for business requirements deliverables.
  • Works on projects related to supply chain planning systems. Requires exposure to SAP environments and possess a medium level of business knowledge. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: 
  • Configures the system to meet business process requirements.
  • Organizes and documents functional requirements. 
  • Collaborates with enterprise architect and infrastructure to integrate applications and hardware.
  • Ensures that the design and application implementation meet security and QA standards. 
  • Evaluates new application product releases and enhancements.
  • Provides recommended solutions for the business problems using standard best practices. 
  • Participates on teams that outline the process and scope out the improvements that can be realized through the application solution.
  • May coordinate the deployment of new modules, upgrades, and fixes. 
  • Defines, develops, or modifies software application modules or change management processes.   
  • Identifies better sources of data feeds and interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility with corporate data warehouse, when needed.
  • Documents functions and changes to new or modified modules, test activities/results and other areas such as error handling and backup/recovery procedures. 
  • Makes modules production‐ready by moving the transports to libraries, completing forms, following procedures, completing version control documents, etc.
  • Provides ongoing maintenance of applications. 
  • May produce and analyze data extracts from system based on user requirements. 
  • Analyzes/monitors applications to ensure that the functionality and performance meets all product and service level requirements and coordinates with development teams.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or Business Management with 6+ years relevant experience or 10+ years relevant work experience in subject matter expert capacity required to satisfy education and experience requirements.
  • Key Supply Chain Planning functional role with one or more end to end implementation experience of some or all the SAP Integrated Business Planning Modules.
  • Key Functional role responsible to design and build system solution for planning functions on SAP IBP based on functional & business Requirements including supply and demand process flows, hands-on configuration of planning area, master data attributes, copy operators and Key Figures. This role includes discussion with business stakeholders and propose solution design and reviews, data analysis and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge on IBP Quarterly Functional Process Improvements/Releases, Supply Chain Enhancements, and operational Support on production issues.
