At Collins Aerospace, the Senior EHS Technician plays a critical role in advancing our site��s compliance programs, strengthening our safety culture, and upholding our commitment to environmental stewardship that enables the missions we support every day. This is a hands-on, shop-floor-focused role that supports day-to-day safety and environmental compliance across the site. You’ll lead SPCC and stormwater programs, validate life-safety equipment readiness, close out compliance actions in EHS systems, and help drive a visible, proactive safety culture through gemba walks, training, and data accuracy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work Onsite at our San Marcos, TX Location
  • Work 1st shift 7am – 3:30pm (With availability to be on call)
  • Regulatory Programs & Inspections
  • Perform monthly SPCC inspections; document findings, track corrective actions, and verify secondary containment integrity.
  • Conduct stormwater BMP inspections and support SWPPP quarterly sample collection and reporting.
  • Validate and audit eyewash, fire extinguisher, and AED readiness on schedule; correct deficiencies and maintain records.
  • Execute fire extinguishers and eyewash audits and coordinate recertifications with vendors as needed.
  • Support hazardous materials/waste handling checks (containerization, labeling, accumulation timing) and coordinate shipments with the EHS team.
  • Provide in-person floor support to operations, facilities, and maintenance; communication of hazards and practical controls; track closure to completion.
  • Utilize Compliance Systems & Documentation
  • Close out EHS action items and RIDII (Report It, Don’t Ignore It) observations; verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Maintain environmental tracking data (e.g., fuel consumption, waste, energy, water, etc.), ensuring accuracy for internal and external reporting.
  • Update EHS Smart (e.g., Level 7 campaigns), site EHS maps, standard work for BMPs, and controlled forms.
  • Create first-aid and OSHA recordable reports with 24-hrs with read across actions, timely follow-up and case management.
  • Create/revise EHS training modules; deliver monthly toolbox talks and update/present Tier 3 slides.
  • Lead leadership safety hazard walks / EHS gemba walks, identify trends, escalate systemic issues, and champion continuous improvement.
  • Escort visitors and contractors for EHS purposes; ensure adherence to site protocols.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years in EHS (manufacturing/aerospace/industrial) with demonstrated experience in inspections, sampling, and compliance documentation.
  • Direct experience interpreting and applying regulatory standards from EPA (e.g., SPCC, stormwater permitting) and OSHA 29 CFR 1910; exposure to NFPA, ANSI, and ASTM standards; and incident tracking in line with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  • Experience Utilizing EHS management systems and MS Office; strong data accuracy and record control.
  • Experience supporting Industrial Hygiene programs, including conducting or assisting with exposure assessments and sampling plans, using OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) and ACGIH Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) as reference standards.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience with ISO 14001/45001 systems, stormwater sampling, and hazardous waste coordination.
  • Credentials such as CHST, ASP, CSP (or progress toward).
  • Exposure to continuous improvement/Lean (kaizen, gemba, standard work).
  • Experience in a Leadership/Manager Role
