This portfolio impressively powers the world with more than one billion monthly active devices. We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer.

Our team (Observability Platform) has the charter to deliver the core telemetry platform of choice for the company. Our telemetry systems are the lifeline of Office, Azure, Windows, Xbox, and the thousands of cloud services run by our customers. The team works on Data Collection, Control, Correlation/Distributed Tracing, Curation, Metrics, Health and System Intelligence.

Responsibilities

• You will build mission critical data collection pipeline used by the largest of the organizations in the world to monitor their applications and services running on the cloud and edge environments. 

• You embrace open-source software development and contribute to the OSS community. Your work covers distributed tracing, metrics, log processing and data reliability. 

• Your customers will include the largest organizations inside Microsoft as well as big customers who are using Azure Monitor. 

• You are collaborative and work constructively across functions and groups to solve customer problems. You will contribute to a positive culture, where all members of the team can do their best work, creating an advantage out of our diverse set of backgrounds, styles and skill sets. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

                o OR equivalent experience.

• More than 5 years of programming experience writing code in Golang, Rust or C/C++. 

• Good understanding of Linux. 

• Good understanding of micro-service architecture, Kubernetes. 

• More than 2 years of experience building monitoring products and platforms. 

• Experience in designing and implementing core components that requires good performance and reliability.
