Job Description
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Coral Gables on January 15-16, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Friday, interviews will take place at our Coral Gables office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Stormwater Engineer to join our Florida Water Team. This position will be based out of our Tampa office and will include the opportunity to work on projects both locally and across the state. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the planning, design, and implementation of water, wastewater, and storm management projects under the guidance of senior engineers, designers, technical specialists, and project managers.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management, water and wastewater treatment, water quality improvement projects for a variety of clients across Florida.
- Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Carry out engineering analyses, prepare reports and technical specifications, under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collect and analyze data, perform field work, undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
- Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, or environmental engineering with academic focus on water, wastewater, and/or stormwater infrastructure, or a related field.
- Must have a valid U.S driver’s license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in civil, or environmental, or a related field.
- Prior experience in water and wastewater engineering, including design, construction, and/or operations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and other design software.
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (i.e., StormWise, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, etc.)
- Familiarity with additional software tools, such as Power BI, hydraulic modelling programs, structural design packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in water/wastewater infrastructure design and a willingness to travel and work in the field as needed.
