Job Overview

We are seeking a Behavioral Health Technician I to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct and supportive care to clients/patients in a variety of settings, including residential facilities and withdrawal management. Your duties will include overseeing daily activities, health monitoring, crisis intervention, facilitating group education and structured activities, and transporting clients as needed. You will also work closely with the treatment team to ensure the safety, well-being, and progress of clients, creating a supportive and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

For Residential Facility and Withdrawal Management:

  • Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients.

  • Monitor vital signs and withdrawal symptoms; escalate to medical intervention when necessary.

  • Obtain and record vital signs and relevant medical symptoms according to policy or as directed by medical personnel.

  • Oversee medication administration as per policies and procedure, ensuring compliance with medication policies.

  • Document self-administration of medications and work with trained nursing staff to ensure proper administration.

  • Monitor the self-administration of over-the-counter medications and ensure proper inventory and storage.

  • Document blood glucose levels and maintain agency-approved equipment according to guidelines.

  • Report medication errors and discrepancies according to agency policy.

  • Screen and monitor clients for withdrawal symptoms and escalate as necessary.

  • Facilitate supervision checks as per policy or when indicated by safety plans.

For Residential Care Facility (RCF):

  • Assist clients with personal care (e.g., grooming, bathing, dressing) as needed.

  • Ensure monitoring of vital signs and escalate to medical intervention when necessary.

  • Adhere to medication policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate records of medication administration.

  • Monitor the self-administration of OTC medications, ensuring inventory control and proper storage.

  • Facilitate client supervision checks, ensuring clients' safety and participation in activities.

For All Locations:

  • Encourage clients to adhere to program expectations and rules, utilizing trauma-informed care and communicating behavior concerns to the treatment team.

  • Participate in the treatment team, helping to identify clients' strengths, needs, and preferences.

  • Document exceptional behaviors and areas of concern in client records.

  • Assist in the admission and orientation process, including client rights, safety checks, and lab specimens.

  • Facilitate urine collection and testing, ensuring proper documentation and following policies.

  • Handle crisis calls and coordinate responses with the supervisor or treatment team.

  • Educate and redirect clients in daily activities as needed, fostering adaptive behavior.

  • Monitor client activities, ensuring participation in scheduled activities and maintaining proper documentation.

  • Foster positive social interactions and model solution-focused behavior.

  • Prepare for and facilitate group activities such as rehabilitative support, education, or recovery skills.

  • Provide transportation for clients to and from appointments as required.

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by observing housekeeping standards and reporting safety issues.
