The School of Education at Saint Louis University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to support the International Master of Arts in Teaching for Excellence (iMATE) program. Job Summary: This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track, position in the SLU School of Education, which combines academic instruction and student support with program leadership. This position will have a two-year, grant-funded appointment with the possibility of renewal. The role involves overseeing the iMATE Program, coordinating with school districts for student job placement, ensuring students meet state certification requirements, and teaching in the graduate teacher preparation programs (as needed). The Director will work closely with faculty, school partners, and support staff to ensure high levels of support for our iMATE students.

Job Responsibilities:

· Coordinate and Support Program Components:

o Provide leadership in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures aligned with the mission of iMATE and the SLU School of Education.

o Collaborate on program planning and ensure alignment with international best practices in teacher education.

o Organize and facilitate cultural integration activities and community-building events for international teaching fellows.

o Assist in managing resources to support iMATE student success.

o Assist in monitoring and reporting on the program's success.

· Advise and Support iMATE Students:

o Provide individualized academic advising to enhance student retention, success, and well-being.

o Support students with academic planning, certification preparation, and program requirements.

o Foster an inclusive and supportive environment for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

· Collaborate on Recruitment and Admissions:

o Partner with faculty and staff on recruitment efforts, ensuring alignment with program goals.

o Participate in the interviewing and selection of international teaching fellows.

o Work with school districts for placements.

· Perform Other Duties as Assigned:

o Collaborate on initiatives to strengthen partnerships with international schools and organizations.

o Participate in faculty meetings and committees to support the broader mission of the School of Education.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Doctorate in education by the start date.

· Experience with international education.

· Demonstrated experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse educational settings.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management, with the ability to learn additional programs.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

· Experience teaching or leading programs in international school settings.

· Knowledge of trends in culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies, global education, and education for social justice.

· Commitment to and experience partnering with international communities or agencies.

· Experience supporting learners with diverse needs, experiences, and backgrounds.

· Evidence of research or scholarship in international education or a related field.

· Familiarity with Saint Louis University School of Education.
