Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Technician will perform many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform administrative functions of the department that do not require professional judgment or extensive technical training. Responsible for assisting the pharmacist. Fills and dispenses prescriptions, answers phones/e-mails/messages, and stocks shelves.
Job Duties:
- Receive and fill prescription requests.
- Verify information on written prescription and refill requests and Brightree delivery ticket is complete and accurate.
- Communicate and educate other team members.
- Answer phones, e-mails and other forms of communication and provide customer service.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for medications.
- Document refrigerator, freezer and room temperature twice daily.
- Document humidity of pharmacy twice daily
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including allergies, diagnosis, and lists of medications taken by individual patients.
- Refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.
- Explain insurance coverage and pricing to patients/caregivers.
- Contact patients for a refill, create refill note in Brightree, and generate Brightree delivery ticket when needed.
- File prescriptions that have been filled.
- Order and maintain perpetual inventory of current lot number of medications supplies and enter inventory data into computer.
- Update expiration dates in computer software daily.
- Order prescription medications, labels, and supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
- Complete inventory counts before lunch and before pickup in the afternoon.
- Problem solves inventory count issues.
- Keep workspace and common pharmacy areas clean.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
- Maintains compliance with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program.
- Must work well with others in a team environment.
- Positive and professional attitude and willingness to continue to learn and adapt to the continual changes in healthcare.
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Mental alertness and the ability to properly treat confidential information
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Organized and Detail oriented
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Mental alertness and ability to analyze large amounts of data and report in a clear and concise manner
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
- The work environment may be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
- Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed.
- Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Requirements
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma is required
- Three (3) years of prior Pharmacy experience is preferred
- Valid and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification is preferred in the state(s) of practice
- Registered with the applicable Board of Pharmacy and in good standing (can be registered upon hire)
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license
