Your Specific Responsibilities:

Program Oversight:

 

  • Visits assigned schools to ensure adequate program oversight.
  • Performs Fall and Spring School Health Services Program Reviews and Focus Visits of each assigned school health room using the current review form.
  • Initiates Process Improvement Plans and follow-up visits, at assigned schools, as needed, for schools not meeting the performance measures during the Fall and/or Spring School Health Services Program Reviews, during a school visit or for non-compliance record reviews. 
  • Reports School Health Services Program Review findings to appropriate school personnel.
  • Provides annual updates on School Health Services Manual and other reports, as assigned, verifying information for accuracy, completeness, correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage.
  • Updates and creates internal forms for the School Health Services Program, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provides consultative and technical guidance to the Clay County District Schools, as requested, for the development of their forms.
  • Assists with collecting, analyzing, and inputting of data/statistics for School Health Services Annual Report, School Health Services Plan, school district monthly reports, mandatory mass health screening data, annual kindergarten and seventh grade immunization reports, end of the year reporting or any other report, as assigned.
  • Updates information in the sub-folders that are part of the School Health Services Manual and/or are used by the School Health Services Program. 
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver License in accordance with DOHP 250-12-13 to conduct school visits, attend community meetings or community outreaches utilizing a county vehicle.


Health Screenings:

 

  • Supports CCDS in completing health screenings, as available.
  • Conducts health screen training for school nurses, DOH staff and school volunteers.
  • Ensures that school health designee completes rescreens and screening of absentees, per state designated time frame.
  • Follows up with school health designee regarding outcome of referrals. 
  • Develops screening follow up letters and forwards to the CCDS for distribution.
  • Participates in screenings, per Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), for private schools in Clay County.
  • Codes and inputs health screening results and outcomes into the Health Management System by designated timelines, as assigned.


Trainings:

 

  • Train registrars, and school health designees on current immunization and school entry health exam requirements.
  • Conducts 4-hour orientation class for new school health designees.
  • Performs child specific training with Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) in schools without a Registered Nurse, as per the MOA.
  • Attends in-service workshops, seminars, and staff conferences to update professional knowledge and skills.
  • Serves as preceptor for new employees and conducts assigned trainings for DOH staff and school staff.


Collaboration:

 

  • Effectively communicates with Clay County District Schools (CCDS) school health designees (RN, LPN, Aide), principals, social workers, registrars, guidance counselors, bus drivers, and any other school staff.
