Position Overview

As a Senior Engineer on our Product Development & Engineering team, you will be designing plastic parts for fit & finish components and/or customer touch points. Essential Functions:

  • Design plastic parts for fit & finish components and/or customer touch points

  • Lead concept exploration through competitive assessments, concept trade-off studies, cross-functional reviews, etc.

  • Specify proper technical information via CAD (Creo) 3D models and drawings to meet component functional requirements

  • Identify, generate and compare solutions while showcasing compromises (fit and finish, cost, mass, schedule, resources, manufacturability, etc.)

  • Develop and execute FMEAs, DVPs, DFSS tools, facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions

  • Proactively take ownership and drive cross functional communication and issue resolution (Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Supplier, Technicians, System Testing, Purchasing, Supplier Quality)

  • Ability to make independent judgments regarding technical issues

  • Maintain a high level of engineering excellence (creativity, drawings, craftsmanship, usability, functionality, etc.)

  • Develop component/system test plans, write and execute test requests

  • Collaborate with and provide direction to CAD designers and test technicians

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years professional experience designing fit and finish components and/or customer touch points (dash, controls, etc.), including:

    • Mating components achieving Class A surface and joints

    • Applying permanent and semi-permanent plastic joining methods (welding, snap-fit, adhesives, etc.)

    • Injection-molded material selection and tool design experience

  • Aptitude for mechanical designs and system conceptualization

  • Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Demonstratable design execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Experience with marine propulsion systems or boating in general

  • Project management experience

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and the FMEA process

  • Ability to utilize Creo for 3D model evaluation or component analysis

  • Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process

The anticipated pay range for this position is $84,500 - $136,100 annually.  The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.  In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
