Job Duties

For more than three decades, the Virginia Lottery has worked to build a strong reputation, one synonymous with providing fun, entertaining experiences and doing so responsibly and with integrity. Proceeds from traditional Lottery games support K-12 public education in Virginia. Taxes generated by sports wagering and casino gaming, which are regulated by the Lottery, benefit other priorities of the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Lottery is currently seeking a Retail Games Coordinator to join our Marketing Department.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day development and coordination of retail games. Responsibilities include the oversight of all aspects of retail games from inception to execution. The individual in this role will oversee game quality assurance, management of game documentation including working papers, schedule updates, game rules, reviews of retail games related advertising materials, and dissemination of graphics. This is a highly collaborative role, ensuring accuracy of game design and related advertising materials.

Coordinates documents and materials related to Lottery games sold at retail:
• Reviews and disseminates draft and final Working Papers and game rules.
• Participates in the development and review of prize structures.
• Reviews game art for improvements and accuracy.
• Sets and coordinates development deadlines and ensures adherence to schedules.
• Communicates any games changes to vendors and verifies updates.
• Manages game specific criteria including game numbers, trademark reviews, audits and end of game report compliance.
• Assists in research projects.

Coordinates and supports launches for retail games and promotions:
• Provides updates on game launch schedules and promotions to necessary stakeholders.
• Produces and verifies game and promotion information sheets.
• Works with vendors and internal teams to ensure all documentation is complete for game launches.
• Coordinates the launch and testing schedule.
• Assists in the testing of games prior to launch.
• Confirms successful launch of retail games and promotion launches.
• Identifies and notifies Games Team whenever any game problems arise.
• Collaborates with the Sales Team on enhancements to the retail environment.

Supports the development of player facing communications and promotions for retail games:
• Identifies advertising and promotional opportunities.
• Prioritizes messaging and audiences for player facing communications.
• Coordinates the collection of necessary marketing files for accuracy and effectiveness of advertising and promotional offers.
• Crafts ticket messaging for retail and responses to players.
• Writes and reviews relevant marketing and game copy.

Maintains internal documentation for retail games:
• Oversees the maintenance of necessary game files including prize structures, working papers, game art, etc.
• Ensures that all files are up to date and readily available for auditing purposes.
• Shares documentation with internal and external stakeholders.
• Documents any issues that are identified to ensure issues are corrected.

Actively pursues knowledge about lottery games:
• Obtains information about retail game development by other lotteries.
• Reviews industry publications and databases to stay abreast of new retail game concepts.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of size and composition of Virginia consumer base including awareness, perceptions, behaviors, emerging trends, and usage of games.

Note - This position requires in-office work three days per week including Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or comparable professional experience.
• A minimum of 2-3 years in product development or comparable administrative experience.
• Knowledge of Lottery products.
• Experience using reports and data to make business decisions and drive sales.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft office products.
• Experience in marketing and advertising.
• Experience presenting information to stakeholders.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills.
