About the Role

The Team:

The Managed Services team is responsible for managing and supporting our Managed Services clients. The role involves being a member of the database team within Managed Services which is responsible for maintaining managed services databases on the cloud including:

  • Administration
  • Housekeeping
  • Change Management
  • Support and issue resolution
  • Monitoring
  • Tuning   


Responsibilities & Impact:

The Managed Services team is responsible for all of the infrastructure, and ensuing automation required, to support continuous integration and continuous delivery of our Software Development Lifecycle Process.

  • Maintenance and provisioning of all internal environment and integration databases
  • Administration of all internal Postgres and Oracle instances and servers
  • Development, documentation, and governance of all DDL and DML product scripts
  • Packaging of Database Releases
  • Providing client troubleshooting support SQL script development/reviews and general Oracle expertise for the support desk
  • Offering support and expertise to ensure maximum uptime of environments
  • Ensure that client SLAs are strictly adhered to
  • Involved in core team tasks including data modeling, governance, and quality of database artifacts as well as release packaging

Candidates will be required to liaise with the other groups within the Managed Services Team to ensure the overall team works together as a unit. Candidates will also need to be able to liaise with various other teams (e.g. Architecture, Design Authority, Support) to ensure changes to the database or support issues are dealt with comprehensively. Candidates should be familiar with operating in a challenging production environment supported from different locations and should also have a good appreciation of Development processes, toolsets, and delivery infrastructure, and be comfortable working with multiple differing systems and tools. The successful applicant will be required to work within a team structure. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and toolsets and be comfortable working with multiple differing systems.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $58,300 to $115,850. The final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications

  • Management of all managed services environments (internal and client-facing)
  • Provide support for any database-related issues to all clients, particularly managed services clients
  • Manage high-severity incidents via SPGI process and work with all stakeholders to resolve issues as soon as possible including attending client bridge calls
  • Ensure Database requests are dealt with within defined SLA’s
  • Modelling and scripting database changes for all our products
  • Ensure client releases are packaged and made available on time
  • Be available for occasional on-call rotation or weekend deployments
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role with a Degree in Technology, Computer Science, IT, or a related course
  • Proficient in Postgres
    • Administration
    • psql, PL/pgSQL,
    • pgdump/pgrestore
    • Performance Tuning and Monitoring
  • Good Linux/Unix knowledge
  • Good Database skills - Data Modelling, Database Release management
  • Experience in AWS Cloud including Amazon Aurora
  • JIRA/Service Now
  • Confluence
  • Shell scripting
  • Git
  • Oracle knowledge is desirable 
  • Knowledge of
