North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer’s mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

The Physical and Life Sciences Directorate has an opening within the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division for an experienced Project Manager. The successful candidate will support operations in the LLNL B194 Accelerator Facility and coordinate the operation and maintenance of accelerators and safety systems within the accelerator facility. The successful candidate will have an important role in the design, construction, and instrumentation of accelerator and experimental beamlines. The successful candidate will support multiple projects, including those funded by the US Department of Energy and LLNL’s Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) program.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for safe operations of the accelerators in the B194 complex in support of experimental programs.
- Maintain Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) compliance of accelerators and associated systems including coordinating safety interlock checks,
radiation monitor checks, and safety system maintenance and upgrades.
- Design and build components needed for new accelerators, beamlines, and experimental end stations.
- Oversee alignment of beamlines and accelerator components.
- Work with facility staff and experimenters to commission new accelerator and RGD systems.
- Provide technical support for nuclear physics experimental activities within NACS.
- Present formal and informal status reports at group meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, electrical or mechanical engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience leading and working collaboratively as part of a focused team.
- Experience developing, commissioning, using, and maintaining safety interlock systems and working to ensure ES&H compliance.
- Experience with accelerator systems such as beam diagnostics, control systems, cooling systems, and beamline alignment.
- Experience with hardware systems such as high vacuum systems and high voltage equipment.
- Experience with complex mechanical design and assembly.
- Verbal and written communication skills needed to present and explain technical information.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.
Pre-employment drug test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test.
Anticipated Clearance Level: P (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
