Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Atmospheric Science Research Developer based out of Bellevue, Nebraska. This position can be filled at Principal (Level 3) OR Sr. Principal (Level 4). Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
What you’ll get to do:
- Apply environmental models and sensor data to evaluate the impact of the environment upon the performance of Northrop Grumman created capabilities such as the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) effort.
- Research and apply new capabilities to enhance the performance of weather radar
- Conduct basic research in electromagnetic propagation to understand the impact of the environment at specific wavelengths and assist with sensor design for future radar and communication systems
Basic Qualifications:
- Principal: Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science or similar discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; or 3 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; OR 1 years with PhD.
- Sr. Principal: Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science or similar discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; or 6 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; OR 4 years with PhD.
- Willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Experience with data analysis using a mix of environmental models, ground based and space based sensors
- Familiarity with scripting and coding languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Familiarity with weather radar
- Familiarity with executing projects within an Agile framework
- Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendation for solutions/process improvement to leadership
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Minimal travel is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarization with electromagnetic propagation models
