Overview

Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Emergency Care Center

 

Support life-saving care in a fast-paced emergency environment. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Emergency Care Center at Decatur Memorial Hospital, you'll assist with essential patient care tasks, support nursing staff and help maintain a safe, responsive environment for patients during their most critical moments.

 

What You’ll Do:

· Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, feeding and toileting needs with care and dignity

· Monitor and document vital signs, blood glucose levels, intake/output and patient observations

· Support emergency care procedures and prepare patients for diagnostic or therapeutic interventions

· Respond promptly to patient call lights, ensuring comfort and safety

· Collaborate with nurses and providers to maintain a clean, organized and efficient unit

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For:

A compassionate, dependable caregiver who thrives in fast-paced settings and is committed to patient safety, comfort and teamwork.

 

Education, Licensures & Certifications:

· One of the following is required:

o Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

o Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA, ABR-OE, RMA, CCMA or NCMA)

o Enrollment in nursing school with one (1) semester of clinicals completed

o Two (2) years of relevant experience in a nursing assistant role

 

· High school diploma or GED preferred

· CPR certification required or obtained during onboarding

 

Experience:

· Direct patient care experience preferred

· Strong communication skills and comfort working in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide basic patient care following established protocols and safety standards

• Assist with daily activities, mobility, personal hygiene and nutrition

• Accurately document care, interventions and patient responses

• Maintain a clean and safe care environment in alignment with infection control guidelines

• Support admissions, discharges and emergency interventions as needed

This position is based at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL, part of Memorial Health’s network of care.
