Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating al specimens brought into the lab including the separation of serum, organization of all specimen handling , sorting and organization of transport of specimens to the departments involved including samples being sent out to other laboratories. Responsible for the operation of the lab computer system. Position relates to the overall function of the lab and the hospital in view of patient care. Problem solving associated with the specimen reception area with direction or assistance from the Administrative Director.
Experience
- 1 to 3 years laboratory experience in processing specimens required. Knowledge of LIS and HIS computer systems required.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
- Responsible for care and accuracy in collecting and labeling specimens. Supervise the specimen processing on a day to day basis, including scheduling. Maintain inventory of blood drawing tubes and storeroom items at satisfactory levels. Create, modify, and maintain specimen control procedures, while communicating the procedures to staff. Assist with software maintenance and validation. Computer operations – troubleshoot/problem solve. Recognize and solve hardware and software problems or failures that may occur using consultants as necessary.
