A small, strong program devoted to the developmental, gross and fine motor, sensory, motor planning, handwriting, language, speech, feeding, and function through the early years (mainly 2-4 year olds up to 12 years old), Parents are educated and decision-makers in their child’s care. Strong focus on team approach with other professionals. An “Anything is Possible” outlook guides our work with each child and family.
Represent the physical therapy section as a member of the clinic team. Provide therapy to new patients primarily as part of a multidisciplinary team. Communicate directly with the patient's treating team members such as physicians, clinicians (CP, CPO’s), nurses, social workers, psychologist and others involved with the patients' care. Advise, teach, and mentor staff regarding patients' care and progress. Assist with discharge planning and provision of appropriate follow-up.
Your Impact
Physical therapists provide services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. They restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health. Their patients include accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as low-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, and cerebral palsy.
Serves as a consultant for other health care providers regarding the delivery of rehabilitation of injuries, disease and amputee care. Knowledge of wound care, skin disorders associated with use of a prosthetic limb, edema management, contracture prevention and treatment, proper donning/doffing technique and pain issues commonly found in amputee patients. Represent the physical therapy section as a member of the clinic team. Represent physical therapy in policy and procedure development, the development of QA monitors and the development of standards of care to insure compliance with accrediting and professional organizations relating to care of amputees and patients at risk of limb loss. Provide therapy to new patients primarily as part of a multidisciplinary team. Communicate directly with the patient's treating team members such as physicians, clinicians (CP, CPO’s), nurses, social workers, psychologist and others involved with the patients' care. Advise, teach, and mentor staff regarding patients' care and progress.
Minimum Qualifications
Physical Therapists are required to have at least a Masters degree and obtain state licensing in order to practice as a physical therapist. Graduation from an accredited program of physical therapy is required to apply for licensure. (MS or DPT, PT from accredited program of physical therapy)
Orthotic/Prosthetic Training a plus. ACLS/AED preferred; BLS-CPR required
