Job Description
The PLASTICS STRATEGIC SOURCING ANALYST supports ITW’s Strategic Sourcing organization with developing and implementing sourcing initiatives that drive cost savings and value for our enterprise-wide resins and plastic parts spend. This position plays a critical role in managing one of ITW’s largest global spend categories, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and across various ITW Divisions. Solution-oriented thinking, creative problem-solving abilities, and project management skills are expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
- Support ITW Divisions in meeting 1% annual savings target.
- Manage ad hoc supply issues; support ITW Divisions with understanding current situations and developing and implementing creative solutions.
- Conduct supplier discovery tasks and RFx events from start to finish ensuring high quality of work and attention to detail; develop detailed project plans with clear actions and ownership and frequently communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Assess opportunities and support with creating sourcing strategies for “new” areas.
- Be proactive in working in a decentralized culture and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
- Improve research and reporting related to resins and plastic parts:
- Report out and present on project status, spend analysis, and market research on an as needed basis.
- Spend data analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and optimize addressable spend.
- Partner with key internal stakeholders in improving data availability and accuracy to move from data and information to insight and value.
- Market trend analysis and market research on plastics/resins industry, including, but not limited to current market conditions, key cost drivers, global supply base, industry terminology.
- Develop commodity and supply base knowledge.
- Manage strategic relationships with suppliers and market intelligence providers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain or Business from an accredited university or college is required
- Minimally, a past internship is required in strategic sourcing or another related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with intrinsic curiosity and willingness to learn.
- High level of emotional intelligence and ability to build trust and foster relationships.
- Experienced in using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and possess knowledge of intermediate functions and formulas (PivotTable, VLOOKUP, IFERROR, etc.).
- Willingness to travel to ITW business locations, supplier sites, internal and industry conferences or training as needed (10%-20%).
