CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
- As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
- Two (2) years of professional, full-time-equivalent experience in Heavy Equipment Operation or related field.
- Must currently possess, or be able to attain within one year, a valid Florida Class "A" Driver's License.
- Must maintain valid Florida Class “A” Driver’s License year to year.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Individual attaining this position must complete NWCG Physical Fitness Test: Moderate within three years of start-date to retain position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates other light to heavy equipment in the regular maintenance of roads, ditches and culverts and other various construction projects to support the training site. This can include operation of pay loaders, dump trucks, heavy bulldozers, earth movers, road graders, and backhoes. Operates heavy tractor/trailers and transports in transporting all above equipment and supplies.
- Assists with all prescribed burning activities to include pre-suppression plowing.
- Provides assistance under the supervision of the forest area supervisor which may include: timber inventory assistance; participation in timber marking, minor tree planting projects, identification of fire hazards and conditions and prescribes proper remedial steps to prevent or mitigate fire damage.
- Conducts minor maintenance and servicing of equipment. Maintains valid necessary licenses.
