About the Role

 


The Senior Audit Lead – People & Risk Culture leads complex audits and centrally driven reviews across the People & Risk Culture portfolio, delivering specialist assurance over Risk Culture and targeted People Risk, including audits of the Talent & Culture function. 

 

Reporting to the Audit Director – People & Risk Culture, the role contributes evidence-based assessments of governance, behavioural drivers of risk and control effectiveness, while supporting high-quality audit delivery across the Internal Audit plan. 

 

The role works closely with audit teams and business stakeholders to deliver credible audit outcomes, provide specialist People Risk and Risk Culture insight, and support disciplined audit delivery in line with Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards.

What will your day look like?

 


As a Senior Audit Lead – People & Risk Culture, core accountabilities include: 

 

  • Lead complex and high-risk audit engagements across the People & Risk Culture portfolio, delivering independent third-line assurance aligned to the approved Internal Audit plan, including centrally driven People Risk and Risk Culture reviews and audits of the Talent & Culture function.
  • Manage audit delivery to agreed timelines and budgets, ensuring disciplined execution, productive use of resources, timely escalation of delivery risks, and strong issue follow-up and validation readiness.
  • Contribute to annual and ongoing audit planning for the People & Risk Culture portfolio, providing informed input on emerging people risks, risk culture themes, regulatory expectations and coverage priorities.
  • Provide specialist People Risk and Risk Culture judgement to support audit delivery across Internal Audit engagements, contributing insight on behavioural drivers of risk, leadership practices and people related controls where material.
  • Apply sound risk judgement and strong methodology discipline, ensuring audit work demonstrates clear understanding of key risks and conformance with Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Apply relevant risk management frameworks in audit delivery, including the Non-Financial Risk Framework and other applicable guidance, to strengthen risk analysis, testing and conclusions.
  • Apply a data enabled audit mindset, using data, insights and structured evidence to support assessment of people and culture risks and to enhance audit quality and efficiency.
  • Lead engagement with business stakeholders throughout audit delivery, maintaining effective working relationships across Talent & Culture and risk stakeholders, and escalating matters requiring judgement or direction appropriately.
  • Ensure audit findings and recommendations are value adding, timely and credible, and clearly linked to behaviours, governance, risk culture and control effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach and develop audit team members and foster a strong speak-up culture, role modelling challenge, integrity, independence and sound professional judgement.

  • Internal audit expertise: Strong understanding of Internal Audit methodology, evidence standards, reporting and issue validation, applied to medium to high complexity audits and judgement led assurance activity.
  • People Risk and Risk Culture capability: Deep expertise in assessing people-related risks and risk culture, including governance, behavioural drivers, leadership practices, incentives and people-related controls.
  • Conduct, regulatory and fraud risk capability: Strong capability in assessing conduct and compliance risks, including how behavioural drivers contribute to misconduct, control failures and fraud risk.
